Helping You Get Rid of Unwanted Behavior Patterns and Create New Healthy Lifestyle Habits

Art will help you to install new neurological networks in your unconscious mind that are better than the ones you come in with.

Our conscious mind seems to have some capabilities that the unconscious mind does not. For example, the conscious mind likes to understand, to analyze, to figure things out. And it also makes choices and decisions. However, the conscious mind can do only one thing at a time, is easily bored or distracted, can get overloaded and stressed out, and jumps around between past, present, and future.

Our unconscious mind seems to have certain capabilities that the conscious mind does not have. For example, the unconscious mind runs our body and all the systems (digestive, circulatory, reproductive, respiratory, endocrine, and immune, to name a few – all in the background and all at the same time). It stores all information from our 5 senses, stores all our habits, and, when communicated with properly, the unconscious mind implements the decisions made by our conscious minds.

So you can see that making a change in existing behavior is enhanced significantly when both the conscious and the unconscious mind work together in harmony and internal rapport on the project. One way to do this is to use the power of a Dominant Thought. We know that there is a lot of communication going on inside our MindBody system, and we need to use that same communication when creating new healthy habits and eliminating old unhealthy habits. A Dominant Thought is an imaginary video picture of exactly what we want to see and feel and hear when we are being successful in our new behavior pattern. This is how we communicate our conscious mind’s choices to our unconscious mind for implementation.

And this Dominant Thought pattern needs to be repeated a number of times (usually called “practice”). Do you know why? It is not that your unconscious mind did not get it the first time; rather, it is because your unconscious mind needs to be convinced that you want this to become so habitual that you can do it without even thinking about it – like walking, and talking, and driving a car. It does not want to waste a lot of time and energy creating a habit that you decide not to use after only a first thought, or even a second, or third. Installing a new habit pattern in your neurology (called neuro-plasticity) can take up to 60—70 days of repetition to convince your unconscious mind that you are serious, determined, and committed, and that you expect results. Art will help you to develop and install a new Dominant Thought so that it becomes spontaneous and natural.

Another useful tool that Art can help you to apply to your issue is escaping from what is often called “procrastination.” Art does not believe that procrastination exists in the way we often understand it. His idea is that we always use (usually unconsciously) a cost/benefit analysis on every behavior. If, in our current analysis, the benefit (payoff) exceeds the cost (money/energy/time), then we will do that behavior. If, on the other hand, in our current analysis, the cost exceeds the benefit, we will not do it. So it is not that we are lazy or stupid when we don’t do something we are supposed to do; it is that – in our current analysis – it is not a “good deal.” Working to decrease the cost and increase the benefit, as we perceive it, will lead to a rapid change in behavior, spontaneously and naturally – no “will power” required.

“I went to Art for help with insomnia. I was nervous about being hypnotized for the first time, but Art took the time to explain the whole process to me. I was fascinated by his description of how our minds work, and how we form habits. He explained the benefits of hypnosis in a way that was easy to grasp. I didn’t know if I could be hypnotized, but Art’s techniques worked right away. His calm, even voice and guidance helped go into an incredibly deep relaxation. I’ve never felt anything else quite like it. The techniques he taught me have been enormously helpful with my insomnia. I would highly recommend him!”
